After 3 years of silence and solitude, I present to you this icy track about the desire for a sense of belonging. This song describes a feeling of non-existence and internal paralysis as a result of pandemic isolation, and sort of watching life pass you by. Thank you to all who have and continue to support my art; I thank you for seeing me. Happy Halloween 🖤 - Maxine Juno Sinclair
lyrics
shrill flowers wilt
after a transient cold spell
provoke a hardening of hearts
and swift shedding of skin
dancing shadows cruelly dancing
dressed in silver
on their way to the wake
my prayer to mercury
can you hear me?
i dissolve into
a stagnant image
frozen in time
waiting for your call
eyes made of evergreen
believed to be everlasting
soon shall they perish
dead eyes follow the silhouettes fading
escaping
it's a process
watching thick branches, rotting
scoffing
unruly laughter makes love with danger
laying still just like a painting
encased in silence
i dissolve into
a stagnant image
frozen in time
waiting for your call
hesitant fingers interlocking
memories, dead
still waltzing
behind smoke screens of glass
smashed
with clenched fists
my prayer to mercury
can you hear me?
i dissolve into
a stagnant image
frozen in time
waiting for your call
waiting for your call
it's a process, waiting for your call
watching thick branches, rotting
scoffing
unruly laughter makes love with danger
laying still just like a painting
encased in silence (waiting for your call)
watching thick branches, rotting
scoffing
unruly laughter makes love with danger (it's a process)
laying still just like a painting
encased in silence (waiting for your call)

(Eli)zabeth Owens’ Knock Knock is an incredible album. It is the conceptual continuation of their album Coming of Age (which you should also listen to), and Knock Knock is both an excellent continuation and a wonderful new album. The vocals, instrumentals, and lyrics are all excellent, and every song fits together wonderfully. Absolutely worth listening to.
Thank you for releasing this wonderful album. Kamani
